The Apps for Health Workshop is an opportunity to hear from clinical experts and thought leaders for digital transformation and speak to highly experienced people who can guide you through the app development process. 


You will have access to:
- Clinical expertise in designing and implementing applications

- Specialists in designing and implementing apps and bringing them to life
- Advice for business planning and support to get to “yes”

SPEAKERS

Dr Afzal Chaudhry

Dr Afzal Chaudhry is the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) of The Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH), a consultant nephrologist, and Associate Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Dr Chaudhry was one of the leadership team that designed, procured and implemented the eHospital project for CUH. As the CMIO, he is responsible for the hardware and software that supports eHospital, and ensuring the quality of inputs to and outputs from the system, system changes, integration with research, information governance, communications, and policy.

Ciara Moore (Event Co-Chair)

Ciara is Director of Moore Associates Cambridge, a healthcare management consultancy. She is a former NHS Executive with over two decades' experience of operational and transformation management, working within large, complex NHS Trusts. She has always had a keen interest in innovation

and technology in healthcare and supporting healthcare organisations to deliver on their operational strategies through utilising digital.

Cíara is also the Founder of Female Leaders At 50 and Beyond where she supports women in business focusing on all types of business from health to fashion, the arts and women in STEM.

Oriane Chausiaux

Serial entrepreneur in Digital Health, Oriane has experience in the development of telemedicine solutions for patients with a range of medical needs. She is a trained as a biologist with special interest in physiology and genetics. She has been developing healthcare apps since 2008, and has a deep understanding of usability requirements as well as regulatory standards. More than a dozen of the apps she has worked on are actively used by patients and clinicians around the world. Some of those are medical devices and have been cleared to use by the FDA and European regulators.

Oriane also has experience in fundraising, both for companies and grant applications for individual projects.

Ronan O'Leary

Ronan is a consultant in Neurosciences and Trauma Intensive Care Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals, Cambridge, UK. He graduated from the University of Leeds School of Medicine in 2004 following a PhD in 1998 and a BSc in biochemistry and molecular biology.

His clinical training was in West Yorkshire, West Midlands and Melbourne, Australia. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. His interests include the use of healthcare data, management of complex trauma, and critical care echocardiography and he is director of the Cambridge Healthcare Data Programme.

Alex Cavanagh

Alex is Head of Charitable Expenditure at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, a charity supporting Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie hospitals with investment in charitable projects of around £0.5m per month. Joining the charity in 2016, he brings commercial and transformation experience from previous NHS and civil service roles.  Alex is responsible for identifying and supporting projects that will deliver patient benefit and seeing these through to delivery and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.  He has been involved in supporting many innovations in healthcare, including several apps.

Basil Matta

(Event Chair) 

Basil is a former Divisional Director for Musculoskeletal, Digestive Diseases, Major Trauma and Perioperative Care Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals, where he is now a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. He has clinical and managerial experience at the local, national and international levels. In addition to his extensive medical training, Basil has a Diploma in Business Administration and is an Associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge.
